Re-Accreditation of Hospitals in the RANZCOG Integrated Training
Program: Standards and Procedures
Background
In 2007 the RANZCOG commences the re-accreditation of hospitals
in Australia and New Zealand which have been accredited by the College
for the Integrated Training Program (i.e. Years 1 – 4 of specialist
training in O&G). The re-accreditation process will involve
an appraisal of all 88 of our training sites to determine their
effectiveness and will include a site visit to each hospital by
a team from the College.
The criteria and objectives of the re-accreditation process, and
details of how it will work, are outlined in the document Re-accreditation
of Hospitals in the RANZCOG Integrated Training Program: Standards
and Procedures. These guidelines have been developed by the Training
and Accreditation Committee of the RANZCOG.
To ensure that our re-accreditation process is fair, equitable
and widely understood by all stakeholders, the guidelines have been
written in consultation with the CEOs and Medical Directors of all
our accredited hospitals, RANZCOG Training Supervisors and Program
Co-ordinators, heads of hospital O&G departments, and a wide
range of statutory bodies, health jurisdictions and midwifery organisations
in Australia and New Zealand.
These guidelines were formally approved by the RANZCOG Council
on 25th November 2006 and have also been approved by the Health
Workforce Principal Committee (formerly know as AHWOC – Australia
Health Workforce Officials Committee).
