DRANZCOG Oral Examination
Eligibility for the Oral Examination
Candidates must first be successful at the written examination
before attempting the oral examination.
The DRANZCOG Examinations are only available to those who have
satisfactorily completed the DRANZCOG training program.
DRANZCOG trainees should consult the
DRANZCOG Handbook (
534KB) (which contains the DRANZCOG Regulations and Syllabus) to
ensure that they are eligible for the examination.
Format (in brief)
The DRANZCOG Oral Examination is an Objective Structured Clinical
Examination (OSCE). Candidates are required to complete 15 cases
- each of seven minutes duration, plus two minutes reading time More

Critical Skills Stations
Four of the seven topics listed below will be examined in stations
at the DRANZCOG Oral Examination. These stations are known as ‘Critical
Skills Stations’. In addition to obtaining an overall result
that equals or exceeds the pass mark for the examination, candidates
will have to pass three of the four stations relating to the four
topics taken from the list below in order to achieve a pass in the
examination.
The topics are as follows:
• Management of antepartum haemorrhage
• Instrumental deliveries
• Management of eclamptic patient
• Resuscitation of neonate
• Management of postpartum haemorrhage
• Management of preeclampsia
• Management of shoulder dystocia
