Welcome to the Support Infrastructure Program for Overseas Trained Specialists
What is the SIP?
The Support Infrastructure Program (SIP) is an integrated range of resources designed to help overseas trained obstetricians and gynaecologists achieve Fellowship of the College (RANZCOG) and to integrate into the Australian medical workforce.
The program is currently under development and is fully funded by the Australian Government's Department of Health and Ageing.
What does the SIP offer?
The SIP offers practical support to Overseas Trained Specialists, Training Supervisors and Senior Registrars to help specialists from overseas move more rapidly and more effectively through the assessment and upskilling processes. It helps them to meet the high standards that the College requires of anyone who wishes to practise in Australia.
Support includes online material and networking, exam preparation workshops, training supervisor education, mentoring and an individual training portfolio to help monitor and assess specific competencies.
The SIP includes the RANZCOG Online Orientation Program and links to the Flexible Learning Program.
When will the SIP be available?
Individual components of the SIP will become available as they are developed. The Online Orientation Program and Flexible Learning Program are currently available.
The SIP will be fully operational by June 2008.
Who has access to the SIP?
The SIP is available to all parties wishing to achieve Fellowship of the College and to practise effectively in Australia. While it addresses the specific needs of Overseas Trained Obstetricians and Gynaecologists it is also a valuable resource for Australian trained doctors and specialists.
To register your email address for regular updates to the SIP and reminders of key dates, please contact ldavison@ranzcog.edu.au
Some components of the SIP require registration and a secure logon. To register for access to the Online Orientation Program, click here.
How to use this website
This website is the primary portal for the Support Infrastructure Program. All online components of the SIP will be linked to this page as they become available. Support documents will be available for downloading in digital format. Some links will take you to outside locations.
Funded Training Opportunities for OTS Trainees
Funding is currently available for the targeted training and upskilling of OTSs assessed into the 'partially comparable' category who are engaged in prospectively approved training.
Training needs should be identified through close consultation between trainees and their training supervisors and recommendations for funding should be forwarded to the College using the OTS Funded Training Recommendation form.
Funded training recommendations may relate to available training opportunities such as clinical workshops, seminars and conferences or to training that the College may develop in response to needs.
