Taylor-Hammond Research Scholarship
About the Scholarship
The Anatomy of Complications Workshop was established in 2000
by Dr John Taylor and Professor Ian Hammond, Fellows of the Royal
Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
(RANZCOG), with the objective of increasing knowledge and performance
in the prevention and management of complications arising from obstetric
and gynaecological surgery.
Arising from its success, the conveners of the Anatomy of Complications
Workshop have established this scholarship to assist a young researcher
in Australia or New Zealand to undertake a project to increase the
knowledge and understanding of a particular aspect of obstetric
or gynaecological practice.
Conditions of Award
The purpose of the Scholarship is to promote clinical or basic
research in women’s health. The research is to be undertaken
in Australia or New Zealand.
It is envisaged that the Scholarship would have the potential
for a significant impact in areas which had not previously attracted
a great deal of research funding.
Eligibility
The Scholarship is open to Fellows of the College of less than
five years standing or Members of the College seeking to qualify
for Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of
Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who are normally resident in Australia
or New Zealand.
The Scholarship Selection Committee and the Board of Directors of the RANZCOG Research Foundation recognise that at the time of application, some candidates may not have attained their Membership of the RANZCOG, but can reasonably be expected to do so prior to the commencement of their planned research. The Board has therefore approved two situations in which an applicant may be awarded the Taylor-Hammond Research Scholarship conditional upon the candidate attaining their Membership prior to commencing their research.
