Evaluation of the LEAP Framework
LEAP Framework evaluation
Evaluation will involve a mixture of both quantitative and qualitative
evaluation methodologies.
Overall, we will want to know if the theoretical platform of:
- the 3 strands and 10 components accurately describes the role
of a medical professional.
- three levels is a valid way of describing CPD activities that
can lead to improved practice and patient outcomes.
What questions might be asked?
We anticipate that specific questions such as the following will
need to be asked. These are a guide only.
- Is the framework useable and applicable across different medical
specialists?
- Is the framework applicable across different practice settings?
- Are all the strands and components understandable and relevant
to a specialist’s practice?
- Are activities available in each of the cells of the matrix?
- Is it possible/practical/easy to complete activities in levels
2 and 3?
- Does a level 2 activity do what it says?
- Does a level 3 activity do what it says?
- Is 10 credits / points in level 3 activities reasonable and
attainable?
- Is the framework useful in helping practitioners plan, carry
out and describe their professional development?
- Is 50 credits / points reasonable and attainable for specialists
to achieve over 12 months under the framework headings?
