Program presenters

All FSEP presenters are employed by RANZCOG and have extensive knowledge, skills and qualifications. They are experienced educators who customize our core educational content to suit each audience's needs.

FSEP Program Manager & Educator: Mark Beaves

Mark Beaves is the FSEP Program Manager, who coordinates the ongoing strategy and administration of the FSEP while delivering education throughout Australia and New Zealand .

Mark also maintains his extensive clinical skills as a registered midwife and Associate Charge Nurse with the Maternal Fetal Medicine department in Southern Health, Clayton , Victoria . He has vast experience in performing ultrasound, and caring for women with high risk pregnancies. Mark's Bachelor of Education (Studies) complements his 13 years of clinical expertise.


FSEP Part-time Educator: Nereda Hand

Nereda has over 20 years experience as a midwife, birth suite specialist and educator at Monash Medical Centre. She also has over 16 years experience as an Associate Unit Manager covering all areas of fetal surveillance within the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit.

 

FSEP Part-time Educator: Karen Sorensen

Karen has 18 years experience as a midwife and has held the position of Midwifery Unit Manager of the Delivery Suite at Fairfield Hospital ( Sydney South West Area Health Hospital ) for the past 4 years.

She has an extensive background working in delivery suites and educating staff across the Area Health, with a focus on CTG interpretation and fetal blood sampling.

Karen is also currently completing her Masters of Health Science at the University of Sydney .

 

FSEP Part-time Educator: Allison Thomas

Alli has 8 years experience in midwifery at the Mercy Hospital in Victoria, and has also spent some time as a clinical nurse specialist for the emergency department and the fetal monitoring unit.

She is currently working as the ANUM at Birrallee, Box Hill Hospital, where she is working in the education department and is involved in the development of a fetal surveillance service for the Eastern Health Region.

Alli has also completed Postgraduate studies in Genetic Counselling.


FSEP Part-time Educator: Sarah Mitchell

Sarah has 9 years experience as a midwife, predominantly in birth suite and fetal monitoring. She currently works as a clinical midwife at Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg. In her role as Clinical Midwife Consultant, the aim is to promote midwifery care for all women, and assist midwives to develop the skills to care for these women autonomously and within a collaborative team.

As a perinatal midwife, Sarah works with women with complicated pregnancies, and supports staff within the Fetal Monitoring Department to develop and expand their skills.

Sarah has almost completed her Masters of Midwifery Science.
