Overview of the Training Program Components

Full details of the components of the ITP/Elective Training Program are contained in the Training Program Handbook ( 1.2 MB) and on the Trainee section of the College website. This page provides a useful overview for Training Supervisors, with links to the relevant pages.

Training Documentation

All training documentation, including registration forms, mid-semester and six-monthly reports, logbook and Training Assessment Record (TAR), is available online. More

Training Supervisors must ensure that distribution and collection of the Consultant Assessment of Trainee forms, which are used to compile the six-monthly summative assessment reports, is done by either the Training Supervisor or an appropriate administrative staff member at the direction of the Training Supervisor. This function should NOT be delegated to a trainee under any circumstances. (See Regulation 11.9.1)

Workshops

Basic Surgical Skills Workshop

All Year 1 ITP trainees in Australia and New Zealand are required to complete a compulsory 2-3 day course in basic surgical skills. More

Communication Skills Workshop

The Communication Skills Workshop is a compulsory component of the training program for all trainees commencing the program from 31 December 2003. More

Assessment

Surgical Skills - Assessment of Trainee Competence

As part of the training curriculum introduced for trainees commencing training from 1 December 2003, the College has introduced a new process to assess trainees' competence in core O&G surgical procedures. More

In-Hospital Clinical Assessments (IHCAs)

All trainees are required to satisfactorily complete the prescribed In-hospital Clinical Assessment (IHCA) modules before becoming eligible for Membership of the College. More

Examinations

The examinations are an essential assessment component of the training program. Applications forms, past examination summaries, strategies, procedures and other information relating to the examinations is available online. More

Research Component

All trainees entering the MRANZCOG / FRANZCOG training program from 1 December 2003 are required to present a Research Project that meets defined satisfactory completion criteria before gaining eligibility for elevation to Fellowship. More

Learning Resources

Flexible Learning Program (FLP)

The Flexible Learning Program consists of a number of topics which target relevant segments of the curriculum and contains specified learning objectives. The FLP is designed to assist trainees in preparation for their examinations. More
