Colposcopy Audit
The Colposcopy Audit is funded by the Support Scheme for Rural Specialists, an initiative of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. The project commenced in August 2007 and will conclude in August 2008.
The key aims for this project are:
• Examine the correlation between Colposcopy and Biopsy and the diagnosis of abnormalities.
• Use collected data to profile colposcopy practice in rural and regional Australia and identify opportunities to improve clinical practice including the use of a Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ). The PSQ will evaluate patients' perception of their Colposcopy experience.
• Provide a supported, multidisciplinary CPD opportunity for rural and regional specialists in
clinical audit to measure Colposcopy practice in line with the NHMRC guidelines.
• Assess the future application of a Colposcopy audit tool.
Use educational tools in Colposcopy such as online image evaluation, to create more knowledge and understanding.
• Evaluate whether an electronic audit tool is practical for rural and regional specialists.
The audit will involve Colposcopies performed on new patients and data collection will focus on Colposcopy quality and the accurate diagnosis from image and subsequent biopsy.
