Membership of the College

Classes of Membership

Membership of the College is set out in section 3 of the RANZCOG Constitution. The classes of Membership outlined therein are:

  • Fellows
  • Members
  • Diplomates
  • Honorary Fellows

The College Council has endorsed two additional classes of membership:

  • Associate Members
  • Educational Affiliates
Associate Members

Associate Membership is open to any medical practitioner who holds a specialist qualification in the area of obstetrics or gynaecology that was not awarded by the RANZCOG and who is practising unsupervised providing specialist women's health services in Australia, New Zealand or the Pacific Islands.

Associate Members are required to participate in and satisfactorily complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities of the College.

The regulations that govern this category of membership of the RANZCOG are contained in Regulation 23.1 (please refer to the Training Program Handbook).

An application fee of AUD$100 is payable at the time of application. Successful applicants will also be required to pay an annual subscription fee, which is currently AUD$1045 (+GST) p.a.

Educational Affiliates

Registered medical practitioners working as a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology or more broadly in Women's Health in Australia or New Zealand who are not a Fellow of RANZCOG, and are not eligible for Associate Membership may apply to become an Educational Affiliate. For example, Area of Need (AoN) practitioners in Australia and International Medical Graduates (IMGs) practising in New Zealand under a provisional vocational scope of practice.

An Educational Affiliate is encouraged but not required to participate in ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

An application fee of AUD$100 is payable at the time of application. Successful applicants will also be required to pay an annual subscription fee, which is currently AUD$156 (+GST). Educational Affiliates may elect to participate in the College's CPD program at an additional cost of AUD$245 (+GST) p.a.
